Hello! My name is Zayn and I am a 24 year old straight male who is passionate about music, comedy, and socializing. I mainly listen to EDM, pop music, and rap songs. Now that you know where my interests lie, you can probably figure out why I’m here chatting with you guys about EDM and its culture. After watching some of the videos on this site and reading some of the other posts on this forum, I’ve realized that there’s more to EDM than just listening to it. It’s not just a club or a scene. It’s a lifestyle and a way of life. I don’t think anyone could ever truly understand what it is like to be an avid listener or a true musical fan but there is no doubt in my mind that it would be impossible not to enjoy it… Except for those of us who are actively trying our hardest not to listen to any music that might get in the way of our ‘Lifestyle’ (just kidding!)

What is EDM?

EDM is a movement that started in the early part of the 21st century. It is a rapidly growing artform that is mainly associated with virtual and digital music platforms. As its name suggests, EDM is any form of electronic dance music. It ranges in styles from hard rock to pop, from electronic to folk music, and from dance to instrumental. EDM is not to be confused with other popular dance music styles such as house or trance. EDM is not a dance music but it is a dance music that is related to the movement of feet, hands, and feet.

Why is EDM so special in my life?

Besides being one of the most popular dance styles in the world, EDM has also been defined as a “lifestyle”. It is a way of life and a way of living that many people find incredibly fulfilling. Building and maintaining your “lifestyle” is what the term “EDM” literally means. To create an “EDM” lifestyle requires a lot of dedication, determination, and a lot of self-discipline. There are no pockets of “secrecy” in this lifestyle as there is in many forms of traditional “lifestyle” as far as what is known about sex, drugs, alcohol, or rock and roll is concerned. There is no such thing as a “ Twilight Zone ” moment in the “EDM” lifestyle as there is with almost no exceptions whatsoever what with one word, “Freestyle”, being mentioned in the context of every single moment. You are your own boss as to what comes out of your “Lifestyle”, you decide what style of music you prefer to listen to, you set the pace for how much “EDM” is produced, you decide what “freestyle” is allowed, and you set the tone for how fast you are able to rap or rap lyrics. You are a student at your own “Lifestyle” and you choose how you want to be “outwardly” educated as far as how you want to be “self-disciplined”.

How to listen to EDM in your spare time

Although EDM is often associated with electronic dance music (EDM) styles such as House and techno, it can and should also be used in other genres as well. Just be sure to keep your preferences in mind as you choose which style of music to listen to. Electronic dance music is usually set in a particular style known as a “chorus”, which is usually made up of instrumentals, or “sides”. You can also check out other types of pop, rock, and metal music if you’d like to spend less time on your feet and more time on your feet feet. Some people also like to “breathe” while they are listening to music when they are “resisting” to the idea of missing out on certain sounds or moments in the song. If you want to enjoy the sound of vocoder, you need to go to the club on a weekend night, not the school-paused lecture in the middle of the day.

Culture, culture, culture!

When it comes to culture, it’s important to understand that most of it is very little known. Remember, there are no pockets of “secrecy” in the “EDM” lifestyle as far as what is known about sex, drugs, alcohol, or rock and roll is concerned.
